Life was awesomely creepy with great special effects, even though it got predictable at the end, it had me thrilled until the end!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The special effects were top notch, and I really loved the beginning scene where everything happened in one shot, kudos to director Daniel Espinosa
-It was very creepy with the life form Calvin scarring around, the creepiness made it edge of your seat thrilling for me

The So So:

-The twist ending, though predictable, it still gave me a sense of horror which what this film was going for
-Acting for the most part was solid, though Ryan Reynolds was the comedy relief which was pretty much a softer version of Deadpool (this may be his curse)
-A lot of the cool special effects reminded me of the film Gravity, but that is not necessarily a bad thing

What I Didn’t Like:

-The sciencey dialogue was almost to much, even for a sci-fi film
-Found no purpose of the lab rat for the astronauts at the beginning, other for the film to get eaten by Calvin

Overall:

I really enjoyed this film from beginning to end. It got me to the edge of my seat with the creepiness of Calvin the alien. I enjoyed the special effects which was almost to par with Gravity which is one of my favorite movies this past decade. Yes it may be a predictable alien movie at the end, but I was still greatly entertained with what it had to offer!!!

(Sidenote: Nine Lives- Even for a kid’s movie, this wasn’t that good. The story was way too juvenile, the comedy wasn’t that funny, the CGI of the cat was badly created, and the feel good moments were ok at best. My biggest question for this film is that why the heck Kevin Spacey agreed to do this film?

My_Blind_Brother_poster

(Sidenote: My Blind Brother- The story was a little intriguing, and the comedy was somewhat witty. However, I didn’t really like the characters in this movie, especially Adam Scott playing a blind athlete who is also a big douche. Everything else that is involved was a character development disappointment for you to actually care!!!
