Going in Style is a humorous and charming film with interesting political undertones, however, the last act was juvenile and predictable!!!
Rating: 3 Stars
What I Like:
-The first two-thirds of the film was fun and charming
-Great chemistry between Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin
-Alan Arkin is hilarious in this role, and provided perfect comic relief
-Great to see Christopher Lloyd playing a clueless old guy
-Impressive directing by Zach Braff
-The political undertones were interesting to think about
The So So:
-The bank robbery scene started off thrilling, but the way it all played out was just a little too childish and at times dumb
-The writing was good and smart, but it seems like in the third act they rushed it
What I Didn’t Like:
-In the third act, it was way too predictable that even a seven-year-old could figure out before hand
Overall:
I was really enjoying it at the beginning seeing these three great actors bringing their A game and charm. It was funny and at times perfectly dramatic with great intentions. I also enjoyed the political undertones where the common person can stand by in and relate. It’s just too bad that the end with the bank heist and ending was just too juvenile and predictable that hurt the message of this film. Regardless, it is a feel-good movie, but not to a point where I’m promoting robbing banks just to stick it to corporate America (or am I?)

(Sidenote: When the Bough Breaks- This movie can be dumb, cliched, anticlimactic, and weird. With all that said, it still held my interest to see what will happen next. Even though the ending had me shaking my head cuz of the stupidity of the story. I also give credit to the acting for actually making it interestingly watchable for me!!!

(Sidenote: Masterminds- This may provide cheap laughs and a somewhat decent story, however, the comedy got too stupid at times. You get the best from the comedic actors playing Southerners who pull a huge bank heist, but they couldn’t save this film from mediocrity!!!

(Sidenote: Don’t Think Twice- I really enjoyed this comedy/drama film about improv actors’ everyday life. It gave a deep sense of the reality of different scenarios in life, and how these comedians cope with it while still putting on a show no matter what. At times the drama can get a little boring and redundant and lacks a main point, but I was entertained and amused by how all the subplots come together to make a group of people one big happy family!!!
