King Arthur: Legend of the Sword may have cool action and special effects, but the confusing storytelling and subpar acting really ruined its true potential!!!

Rating: 2.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The action and special effects were eye candy during most of the battle scenes
-The soundtrack was pretty unique and cool

The So So:

-The pacing of this film is very fast which kept you engaged, however, because of that it lead to lack of good plot and character development
-Jude Law as the villain of the film was pretty good acting wise, but story wise is pretty much the run of the mill jealous brother who betrays his blood for power

What I Didn’t Like:

-The way they try to tell the story with flashbacks of past to present, or present to future, made it really confusing to know what is going on in a certain scene
-With exceptions to Jude Law and Dijimon Hounsou (who also lacked good character development), the acting was not very good, especially Charlie Hunnam who played King Arthur really lacked any empathy for the character, and all he really does well is scowl at people

Overall:

I give praise to director Guy Ritchie for his action scenes and special effects, but for everything else, he took a risk that really didn’t work. It’s a shame, because it really did have potential to be an epic like Lord of the Rings, but instead, we get a disappointment like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Only difference is, the expectations weren’t that high. It looked like they were planning sequels for this, but that doesn’t look likely now!!!
