The Dark Tower started off intriguing, but in the end, it just the same old typical action movie!!!
Rating: 3 Stars
What I Like:
-The acting with Idris Elba as Roland, and Matthew McConaughey were great, McConaughey does have the style on being a good villain, while Elba’s grittiness makes him the cool hero
-The action was pretty good
The So So:
-The story really started off very intriguing and got me engaged, but once it got to the third act, it seemed rushed and just became a typical action movie where it’s all about action without substance, makes me curious what Stephen King’s books really brought to the table
What I Didn’t Like:
-The premise didn’t live up to my expectation of a good story, it seems that they tried to wow us with the action, but it definitely wasn’t enough
-Tom Taylor playing Jake Chambers was really terrible acting (though I cut him some slack since it is his first role)
Overall:
Even though I didn’t read the books, I do believe that this film doesn’t really do this justice. I’m sure the books give it more substance on the story and characters which lacked a lot for the movie. The action and acting was cool and all, but in the end, it is just another action film that may be forgettable!!!

(Sidenote: Table 19- This comedy, or maybe even romantic comedy had an interesting premise about being the forgotten people table for a wedding. It had it’s moments with the comedy, but a lot of characters with their own issues were too much, and really made up for a typical corny type of romantic comedy. Not even Anna Kendrick’s charm could save it from below standards of a story!!!
