The Hitman’s Bodyguard may have its cliches, but the comedy, semi decent action, and the great chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson really made this movie more than watchable!!!
Rating: 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
– The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson is really hilarious to watch, some of the jokes and gags between them were actually pretty funny
-The action, for the most part, is decent, I especially liked the one fight scene in the tool store where it was all filmed in one shot, very impressive

The So So:
-Gary Oldman played the villain as a Bulgarian dictator standing trial for his evil leadership, Oldman did his best, especially at the beginning, but in the end, this is his rare forgettable roles (and two this year, what is up?)
What I Didn’t Like:
-The biggest flaw is the cliches and predictability for a action/comedy type of movie, like the redemption after being respected but one mistake puts you in the dumps type of story, or the pairing of complete opposites to achieve a goal type of ordeal, plus the action cliches, really makes this a really subpar story
-The biggest twist of this movie I predicted right from the beginning
-The beautiful Salma Hayek played the hitman’s wife in prison, but as a stereotypical Latina woman, was just completely unnecessary

Overall:
Yes, the story has issues, but I still enjoyed watching it. The comedy between Reynolds and Jackson had me laughing a lot. I enjoyed the decent action as well. Bottom line, it is a typical summer movie that can entertain us when we have nothing else to do. It’s more than watchable for people, and fans of both Reynolds and Jackson will not be disappointed!!!

(Sidenote: The Lost City of Z- This film starring Charlie Hunnam as an explorer exploring the Amazon did have an interesting premise. I also enjoyed the jungle views and sounds while watching it. With that said, it was completely boring, especially the second half of it. I almost (or maybe I did) fell asleep while watching. It’s a shame really, cuz I was actually interested in watching it before i watched it!!!
