Mother!, has to be one of the weirdest movies I’ve seen this year, what’s worse, I didn’t get the meaning behind it to appreciate it!!!

What I Like:
-The direction of Darren Aronofsky is fantastic with the different camera views, the artistry, and the crazy action in the end
-The acting from Jennifer Lawrence to Javier Bardem was pretty good
The So So:
-Aronofsky was telling an allegory through symbols and artistry which is interesting, however, I really didn’t get his meaning to appreciate the hard work he put into it
What I Didn’t Like:
-The last crazy scene was just too weird, all the craziness happening with the people going crazier and crazier by the minute was just too weird for me to understand the whole point
-The close up shots of Javier Bardem’s face aren’t too pleasant
-It is considered a horror movie, but I beg to differ, and see it more of an allegory that I don’t understand the main point
-(Editor’s Note- Apparently, (though not 100% sure) it is an allegory of God and religion which really makes me not like this movie more, and Aronofsky’s atheism ignorance)
Overall:
I do appreciate the hard work that the director put into it and the acting, however, I just didn’t get its true meaning for this film. Maybe other’s do (and if the theory I researched is true, I truly hate it), and can explain it better, but for me, all I can do is shake my head and say, “Another weird movie from Aronofsky once again!!!”

(Sidenote: Sleight- This is one of the realist movies I’ve see this year, and I liked the simplicity of this story. About a kid taking care of his younger sister by being a street magician by day, and a drug dealer by night really captures some grand moments. Yes it is a typical drug dealer story, but I really thought it had some smart writing to really make it a worthwhile watch!!!
