Murder on the Orient Express started off really, really interesting and engaging, however, the ending left me very, very unsatisfied!!!

Rating: 3.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The direction of Kenneth Branagh was great, the cinematography, the set pieces, and the tremendous acting, which he is good at bringing out with the actors was all great and worthwhile
-Branagh’s acting was tremendous as well playing Detective Hercule Poirot, he really brought out the best in the character based on Agatha Christie’s novels
-The set up for the story which started the good old mystery plot was interesting and engaging, and really had me guessing who the murderer is

The So So:

-There was so many good actors in this film, yet it was really Branagh who stoled the show, with that said, it made all the other actors into supporting roles, and pretty much for some wasted in minor story plots and what not

What I Didn’t Like:

SPOILER THREAD (Don’t read if you haven’t seen it):

-The ending was very unsatisfying to me, I was ready to be surprised on who committed the murder, but it ended up to be everyone was responsible in killing Samuel Ratchett, played by Johnny Depp, that was cool and all, but the fact that Poirot didn’t bring justice to anybody, and decided to just let it be, that made it confusing and not the ending I want to see to be satisfied

Overall:

Pretty much the first two-thirds of the film was intriguing and engaging as you are mixed in with the mystery it entails. However, the ending (and this is from a person who hasn’t read the books) really left me unsatisfied and like missing a piece for me to be ok with it. It was almost a waste of Kenneth Branagh’s talent, but it is still a good watch because of his hard work. I may struggle with it, but I’m sure for some people, it can be satisfying enough!!!

Lowriders_poster

(Sidenote: Lowriders- I definitely wanted to check this movie out, and see how life is like in East LA area around today’s time when it comes to cars and lowrider. A lifestyle I kind of lived in the early 90’s. I have to say, even though it had its good share of cliches and what not, I really did enjoy the culture that this film brings out. A culture of identity, passion for what you so, and the importance of family. For that, I really enjoyed watching this movie!!!
