Star Wars: The Last Jedi gives us a unique spin on this franchise with great action and emotional acting for die hard fans and fair-weather fans to enjoy this spectacle!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

What I Like:

-You get everything you want in a Star Wars film, things like great action, whether in space, in a space ship, or in some planet, you get some great acting, and a good story that made this a somewhat unique experience
-I really enjoyed Mark Hamill’s performance as an old Luke Skywalker, I give credit to director Rian Johnson for giving him very different tones in his character as we find out why he has been hiding and why he doesn’t believe in the Jedi anymore
-For director Rian Johnson, he created a universe where it is unique, he used a good balance of CGI, and real action, it still felt like a Star Wars film, and took some good risks in the story that really felt like a different Star Wars film
-The Porgs were fun, and BB8 was funny as well

The So So:

-My big critique is one I blame the big fans and the bloggers all around, ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there has been many theories about it, mainly regarding to Snoke and Rey, it really got me excited and raise my expectation for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. (What I’m about to say next is a slight SPOILER) With all that said, they really didn’t reveal anything about these theories, and if they did, it wasn’t scene breaking or anything, it made me slightly disappointed in that regard, with that said, after some thinking, I’m glad they didn’t, it still stood on it’s right, and gives us something to look forward to when Star Wars Episode IX comes out

What I Didn’t Like:

-The fact that I can’t really talk about this film without SPOILERS, so here we go with the SPOILER Thread

SPOILER THREAD (Don’t read if you haven’t seen it):

-Let’s start with Luke Skywalker, they really made us question whether he really is a good guy, or a bad guy, and the way director Rian Johnson gives his different tones was fascinating to see, it almost made me believe that Luke Skywalker will be the villain, but in the end, he is not, but is stubborn with his beliefs about the Jedi and what not, in the end when he came in for the final battle scene, man, that was awesome to see, and how important he really is to this whole franchise, the twist in the end, where he is actually a projection of the force, was awesome, and how he passed away was truly emotional (RIP Luke Skywalker), if you didn’t have respect for Luke Skywalker before, you will now after watching this film
-The last bit of characterization for Skywalker was the cameo if Yoda as a force ghost, that scene really reignited Skywalker’s purpose and belief in the Jedi once again, and it definitely made it nostalgic for all fans alike
-One things I didn’t like is that it really doesn’t give any background to Snoke whatsoever, all it showed is that he was the leader with great power, but no background whatsoever on his character and how he came to power (so much for the Jar Jar Binks theory), his death seemed underwhelming, and that is one theory of why I was slightly disappointed with his character, with that said, it did create that awesome light saber battle with Rey and Kylo Ren against Snoke’s guards
-They kind gave a little background on who are Rey’s parents, but I really don’t believe that her parents gave her away for money to continue on drinking, there has to be more than that, and maybe we’ll see it in Episode IX
-BB8 being the ex machine to save Finn and Rose Tico was a little eye rolling for me

Overall:

Regardless of my slight disappointments, it is still a fun and entertaining film for fans and somewhat fans of the Star Wars franchise. If I had to rank it, I definitely put this under Star Wars: The Empire Strike Backs. If you do go and watch it, it’s worth the 3D price. I said this before, and I will say this again proudly, this is our generations Star Wars, and shows that Disney really know what they are doing to this franchise. I’m looking forward to the future films, and see what other special Stars Wars things they will show in the near future!!!
