Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a fun, hilarious, and smart film even though the action is somewhat cheesy!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

What I Like:

-Two things that makes an action movie great, it was fun and hilarious, there wasn’t a boring moment at all in it, and I was laughing throughout the whole ordeal
-The writing was impressing for me, it was smart and things made sense for a film about Jumanji, what I loved about it is that subtle homages this film gives to the original movie, it didn’t outright play the nostalgia factor, though the drums really does get my senses heightened
-The acting was great, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was awesome, Karen Gillan was pretty cool as well, Kevin Hart wasn’t annoying, but the one actor who stole the show was Jack Black playing the personality of a teenage girl, he really took the reigns of this role and nailed it

The So So:

-The action was blatantly CGI’d with some really cheesy stunts that puts a tear to the eye of Jason Statham, with that said, the fact that practically the film is in a video game really makes it tolerable to watch, once you get use to it, it’s not so bad, I mean the action is better than the first film

What I Didn’t Like:

-How can eating cake makes you blow up, other than for comic relief, it really doesn’t make any sense to me

Overall:

I was a fan of the first movie, and really thought this one will suck. I’m happy to say, that I am wrong. Not only do I like it better than the first movie, it almost cracked my top 10 of the year. As I said, it is fun, the actors and their comedy was hilarious, but the most impressive was the writing to make this Jumanji film their own right, and that is because of their smart writing. Robin Williams (may he RIP) would be proud, and hopefully this marks the end of a good franchise, and not spoil it with more sequels!!!
