Darkest Hour gives a great performance by Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, but the rest of the movie, not so spectacular!!!

Rating: 2.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The only reason why this film is watchable is seeing the performance of Gary Oldman as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, it was almost like you’re actually seeing Churchill in real life, like Oldman wasn’t there at all, his speeches were awesome, and I can’t see anybody, who can act like Churchill do any better
-Director Joe Wright really created some good scenes with the difference in lighting, especially when they introduce Churchill, it was a cool shot to see

The So So:

-This is a political thriller of some sorts as you can see Churchill putting his foot down as a leader right from the beginning, and the backlash he gets from some people, and it really focuses on one part of his time as Prime Minister, and I wish they showed more, but the character development for that time is decent enough

What I Didn’t Like:

– Honestly I found the dialogue boring, sometimes I couldn’t understand, (it could be the British accents), but it really didn’t keep me engaged, and really didn’t feel the crisis that was happening during that time, it was just whatever for me

Overall:

The only thing that has worth to watch this film is to see Gary Oldman taking on the role of Winston Churchill with perfection. I do believe, he will win the Oscar for Best Actor. As for the rest of the movie, I wish the writing and dialogue wasn’t boring. I wanted to be entertained and learn about this moment in history, but instead I was disengaged. It’s too bad, because it is a treat to see Oldman as Churchill, even with the lethargic dialogue!!!

Wind_River_(2017_film)

(Sidenote: Wind River- This film really was interesting from the beginning to end. It kept me engaged about a murder mystery in a Native Reservation in the middle of Wyoming. The writing and direction was perfectly created to really care about these characters, and wanting to know who committed the crime. The acting by Jeremy Renner was awesome to see, and Elizabeth Olsen was not bad as well. If you’re into good mystery with great writing and a nice touch of action, definitely watch this movie!!!
