I, Tonya puts together a unique type of biopic with strong acting and cool visuals, if only they didn’t concentrate so much on the negative things that portray Tonya Harding, and find some genuine positivity!!!

What I Like:
-This movie was really all about the acting, Margot Robbie portraying the tumultuous pro figure skater, Tonya Harding, was very interesting to watch and I believe Robbie really put a lot of work in her role being an abused and controversial figure skater, though, the person that really acted well was Allison Janney who portrayed her crazy mother, Janney has always been an intimidating actress, but this one takes the cake of her most intimidating role, I do believe she will the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, and it will be well deserved
-I thought director Craig Gillespie really put together a unique type of film, it involves a mockumentary style that involves not only drama, but comedy as well, the breaking of the forth wall was tastefully done to keep the viewers entertained throughout
-I also enjoy the filming style of catching most things in one shot, especially the skating scenes which was cool and fun to watch
The So So:
-I thought the film really focused on Tonya Harding and all the negative things that happened in her life, her abuse by her mom and husband, the incident with Nancy Kerrigan, and bottomline, her stupidity, maybe that was the goal of the film, but it made me feel sorry for her for the wrong reasons, if that is the case, it did a good job, however I would like to see some of the positive things of Harding to see if she actually has a heart, but even with her greatest achievement of landing the triple axel, it shows how it really made a negative impact, its a tragedy really, but still, you can’t help but feel sorry for her
What I Didn’t Like:
-This film is not for the faint of heart with all the abuse Harding had to endure, sometimes I felt it was too much, but it just shows how much of a tragedy this movie really is
Overall
The acting and the outline of the story really made this biopic unique to watch. I see it almost as a tragedy for pro figure skater Tonya Harding, but it really shows that your past can always haunt you even when you are given chances to break through. It is sad to see her character treated that way, but sometimes you feel does she have a heart, and the film really didn’t show that, so it remains on us to care or not. Regardless, the acting was superb, and for that alone, it is worth the watch!!!

(Sidenote: Flatliners- This remake really decided to take more horror than sci-fi, and that was it’s downfall. There were scenes that really didn’t make any sense or add any depth to the characters or the story. It just relied on jump scares. The original movie wasn’t even that good to begin with, and this remake was even worse. It’s a shame, because it really does have a good and interesting premise!!!
