Phantom Thread is what you expect in a film about dressmaking, a lot of mediocrity!!!

What I Like:
-The music, that piano playing music really puts me at peace even though there are scenes where it is not peaceful
The So So:
-The acting chemistry between Danial Day-Lewis character, Reynolds Woodcock, and his girlfriend eventually wife, Alma played by Vicky Krieps, and his sister/manger Cyril, played by Lesley Manville, is very peculiar to say the least, and honestly that is what the film was going for as Reynolds Woodcock is very controlling and materialistic which does affect his closest people, at least the passive aggressiveness from one another had me chuckling for a little bit
What I Didn’t Like:
-It is a movie about a man who dedicates himself in making dresses for high class people, and it is what I thought it would be, very boring, I try to get into it, but in the end, I just wanted it to be over, maybe if they concentrated in more arguments, maybe it would’ve been more watchable
Overall:
I really tried to get into it, but in the end, I just couldn’t. It had very minor moments where I was intrigued, like the passive aggressiveness, but overall I found myself bored out of my mind. It is another case of overhypedness from the Oscars. As for Danial Day-Lewis, if this is his last movie before he retires, I applaud you for your dedication in all of your roles which made it authentic and believable. In my opinion, you are the Meryl Streep for male actors, and I hope you can reconsider to make another movie. Until then, thank you for your great acting!!!
