The Cloverfield Paradox may peak your interest, but the story was just way too confusing and didn’t really tie up with the rest of the franchise effectively!!!

Rating: 3 Stars

What I Like:

-The acting between the astronauts was pretty good even in the comedic side it wasn’t forced
-The premise of the story was interesting, mainly because it is part of the Cloverfield franchise, and made me wonder how it all happened

The So So:

-This film reminded me a lot of the movie Alien, mainly because of its creepiness at first, but because of that, it does have its fair share of cliches for a sci-fi film, I could list it but it does bring spoilers, so I rather not

What I Didn’t Like:

-The story’s premise made it interesting, but the execution was terrible, once you go into different dimensions you can’t write a lazy and confusing story, so many different things happening and yet it doesn’t explain well on why these things are happening, so many plot holes that damages my mind, and I hate that
-As promoted it is part of the Cloverfield franchise, but it barely ties up any connections from the first film, let alone the second film there was any connection, so I was very underwhelmed in that regard

Overall:

I was looking forward in seeing this film and hope for some explanations on what happened. Instead, it got me even more confused and no real explanation whatsoever. Don’t get wrong, as a sci-fi film it gets the job done with an interesting premise, but the execution really was worse than a junior varsity team full of eight graders. This is definitely the weakest film of the franchise for sure, but there is one more film on the way, and I hope it can be more clearer on what is happening with everything that this franchise offers!!!

It_(2017)_poster

(Sidenote: It- I remember watching the TV film, never really read the book, but I do like Stephen King. For this movie, they definitely up the ante on the creepiness and gore very effectively. I mean, Pennywise’s teeth were very freaky for me every time it comes out. With all that said, it doesn’t just rely on horror and jump scares, it actually has a very good story dealing with overcoming your fears and even guilt. The character development and acting from these kids were spot on, and that’s a rarity. Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise was creepily good, and really made this horror film give me a rare good rating!!!
