Even for a film from Pure Flix, I expected a lot better acting, action, and drama, at the very least, it was almost biblical to the story!!!
Rating: 2.5 Stars
What I Like:
-For the most part, it was true to the original story which can be found in the Bible, it wasn’t like Noah or Exodus: Gods and Kings where they completely butchered the story, it’s what me expect
The So So:
-Usually in a lot of Bible films they add some extra things to make the story flow better, or add extra dramatics which can be a good thing or a bad thing, in regards to this film, it was ok, like the murder of his father made sense for me though it could’ve been executed better
What I Didn’t Like:
-The acting was way too corny, especially the main actor playing Samson, Taylor James, his acting wasn’t effective, ugliest cry you will ever see, and that beard looked faker than a mall Santa
-The action scenes were very subpar as well, the one where he killed the whole army with a donkey’s jawbone, was not epic whatsoever, I was very underwhelmed with lazy action and drama, and that’s a shame
-Some of the scenes were just so bad that it was almost laughable for me
Overall:
Even from Pure Flix, I expected something better. It seemed like they rushed this whole thing instead of taking their time with it to make this epically good. It’s a shame really, because this is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. At least they kept it true to the story for the most part. It could’ve been worst, a lot worst. (Looking at you Noah!!!)

(Sidenote: The Florida Project- This is an interesting watch about a little girl living in a motel with her rebellious mom in the slums of Orlando. A unique setting indeed. With that said, it was kind of sad and depressing for me, seeing this little girl living this life, and doesn’t know how bad it really is. How innocent she is. It wasn’t effectively powerful for me, but more effectively depressing. Not sure what was big about Willem Defoe’s acting in this film to earn him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, but more power to him, I guess!!!
