A Wrinkle in Time I give credit for the great special effects and direction, but the story may have dragged on just a little too much!!!
Rating: 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
-Just the special effects and CGI alone makes this film worthwhile to watch, the scenery and details was awesome and fun for your viewing pleasures
-I also enjoyed the direction from Ava DuVernay, her attention to detail with the special effects and makeup is spectacular, and I also enjoyed the casting which represents many different races including a marriage that is with intercultural, the diversity is something that is appreciated from me
-There was also some very good scenes that brought a lot of emotion, don’t want to say too much without spoiling it
The So So:
-I can understand that this probably the first of many films (depending on the box office results), but there seem to be a lot of unanswered questions about the new world and the villain, they will probably explain it in future films, but I do need to know more to have a better understanding of the world and characters they’re building
What I Didn’t Like:
-The third part of the film and story started to lag and made this conclusion kind of boring, and just had me anxious for it to end and move on
-The kid that played Charles Wallace, played by Deric McCabe, started to get really annoying around the third part of the film, his child acting was subpar and it seems like he had a lot of dialogue for him
-I haven’t read the book, but a source of mine told me that the book had a lot of Christian themes that the movie didn’t show, if that is true, that is disappointing, and makes me wonder if they did it on purpose, and if so why?
Overall:
As I said before, the special effects, CGI, direction, and diversity really makes this worth a watch. The story and development was subpar for my standards, and was only decent at best. A lot of money was put into it and I hope it does well, because I am somewhat intrigued into what will happen next!!!
