Red Sparrow started off intriguing and with intense scenes, but not even Jennifer Lawrence’s performance could save it form its convoluted story!!!
Rating: 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
-The beautiful Jennifer Lawrence probably gave one of her best performances in her acting career, from her Russian accent, her ballet dancing, and her intense training scenes as a sparrow really bodes well for her and her acting prowess
-It does have some intense scenes that really put me on the edge of my seat, I thought the violence was great for the intensity that director Francis Lawrence tried to create, and it flowed perfectly
The So So:
-I still found the story intriguing even though it was kind of cliched spy type of thriller, what intrigued was seeing the unique training these Sparrows had to go through which is very, very unique, you all will see what I mean when you watch it
What I Didn’t Like:
-After Dominika, played by Jennifer Lawrence, completed her training and went on to her first mission, that is when this film took a turn for the worse, all the twists and turns and not really knowing where Dominika’s loyalty really ties to, instead of being thrilling and shocking with their twists, it was just too convoluted and confusing
Overall:
As I said, I thought this spy thriller started off intriguing with a unique training experience, and a great performance by Jennifer Lawrence. After the whole training session, and going to the mission, that is when it started to tumble. It was so confusing with their twists, and it was way too convoluted for my liking. At least there are intense scenes for those people who are into violence and sex, but to me, it is almost wasted hard work from the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence!!!

(Sidenote: My Little Pony: The Movie- For the record, I’m not a broney. With that said, I thought this animated film was cliched with a capital C. I mean almost every cliche you can think of. One thing I do give this credit for is their voice casting was pretty good. Most notably Michael Pena and Liev Schrieber as the villains of this film. Bottomline, if you’re a Broney, more power to you all, but this is really a movie for kids and for parents to begrudgingly endure!!!
