Tully is a real grounded drama that touches parenthood and can really make people think twice about having kids, but most importantly, yourself!!!

Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-The acting by Charlize Theron was superb, really dives into the emotions of being a mom and how frustrating it can be
-I love the groundedness this story brings, sometimes it mainly shows the great things of parenthood, but here it shows the downsides of it and hoe it is not easy to be a parent

The So So:

-There are some weird moments while watching it, but the way it all comes together really makes sense, you just have to endure the weirdness and realize the bigger picture

What I Didn’t Like:

-Before the twist, I couldn’t understand the main point other than being a drama about motherhood, and because of that it can drag for a little bit

SPOILER THREAD (Don’t read if you haven’t seen it):

-The big twist in the end was really thought provoking, even though I could see it coming that Tully was a figment of her imagination, the way the story progressed really made it all make sense in what Marlo was really going through, especially the fact that she was imagining her younger self and reliving her fun times, it just really made this film real

Overall

This is a well put together and thought provoking drama about parenthood. With the great acting by Charlize Theron, and great direction and writing, it really brings out a real grounded realness for us to consider. Yes this may make people not want to have children, but I believe the intention is to realize who you really are when you’re in that situation. It is a good watch if you want a family!!!

(Sidenote: Proud Mary- This action film starring Taraji P. Henson is a fun movie to watch for all you action junkies. The only bad thing is, it is your typical cliched action film that really brought nothing new to the table. I see some potential for Henson as an action star, but she needs a better script to really flourish in that role!!!
