Life of the Party is your typical comedy where the jokes are hit and miss, and a story so cliched that really does nothing for your entertainment!!!

Rating: 2.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The few hits on the jokes did make me laugh which is why it kept me engaged

The So So:

-Melissa McCarthy does have the acting chops, but sometimes her other comedy movies are just duds, for this film you don’t see her great acting, and I’m getting tired of seeing her from nerd or loser to winner type of ordeal, McCarthy is better than that

What I Didn’t Like:

-A lot of the jokes were misses where I heard crickets in the theatre
-The story was the typical loser to winner and the struggle in between type of story, so might as well play that “Eye of the Tiger,” and call it a night
-I mean seriously, can a 40 year old be a life of a party in college, this film is so out of league that it is downright ridiculous

Overall:

I really want to like more of Melissa McCarthy’s films but she is not helping herself picking way too subpar comedies like this one. She needs more roles where not only she can be funny, but also very dramatic, that’s the McCarthy I want. Instead you get this lack of laughs comedy that can be very stupid, and all you can appreciate is the hot girls at the college campus. I know she can do better than that!!!
