Overboard really did fail as a comedy, but even though the story was predictable, it still pack an emotional punch to make this tolerable!!!
Rating: 3 Stars
What I Like:
-The third act of this movie really had some good emotional drama which made it tolerable to watch
-I’m not a fan of her, but Anna Faris really acted well in her role, it is not her usual over the top comedy that she usually do
-I can appreciate the Latin representation in it without being too stereotypical, I thought that the Latin jokes are tasteful
The So So:
-The story was way too predictable, I guessed right when the movie started, with that said, it still had a unique twist (mind you, I didn’t see the original movie) which kept me engaged
What I Didn’t Like:
-As a comedy, it really failed, I barely was laughing at all, even when it immersed a chuckle, it was because of how dumb it really is, I expected to laugh and didn’t get it unfortunately
Overall:
Simply put, it failed as a comedy with a predictable story, but it did add some emotional drama to make this barely watchable. I enjoyed the Latino representation, but their charm couldn’t really save the blandness that it truly brings which is unfortunate. Nothing more, nothing less than ok!!!
