Sicario: Day of the Soldado is not as fresh as its previous film, but it is more brutal and just as thrilling!!!
Rating: 4 Stars
What I Like:
-Just like the first movie, it has very thrilling moments and a sense of the unknown of what is going to happen next
-The acting of Josh Brolin and Benecio del Toro was awesome to see especially del Toro show his true grittiness
-This one was more brutal with the violence and human ethics, some scenes may make you cringe
The So So:
-I’m surprised they made a sequel to Sicario, with the first one being fresh and suspenseful, but because it is a sequel it did affect it with out the freshness of the story and execution, it’s like we know how this movie will go down, but it’s still thrilling nonetheless
What I Didn’t Like:
-The story was kind of predictable, and didn’t really have a twist like the first one which contributed to the lack of freshness
Overall:
I liked the first one for its unique approach on story telling, but with this one it took a small step back. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good and thrilling watch, but don’t expect it to be better. Once you get passed the simplicity of the story, you can sit back and relax and enjoy the brutality this film brings!!!
