Peppermint may have a typical story and I couldn’t get into Jennifer Garner’s performance, but I was still entertained!!!
Rating: 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
-The action is what makes this film entertaining, I give credit to director Pierre Morel in the execution and pacing of it that makes it fun to watch, action junkies (like me) will like this at the very least
The So So:
-Jennifer Garner as a vigilante really couldn’t take her all too seriously, I didn’t feel her emotion or intimidation in quest for vengeance and justice, I do give it credit that they give a woman a chance for this type of role, and I did enjoy her fighting and action skills, it kept it fresh at the very least
What I Didn’t Like:
-It is the same old vengeance, revenge, justice type of ordeal, in the same year where the remake of Death Wish comes out, it just didn’t work storywise, the same old tropes did make my eye roll, especially that cliched ending
Overall:
Yes, the story isn’t fresh, the acting of Jennifer Garner was questionable, and it did have its share of cliches. With all that said, I was still entertained by the action, execution, grittiness, and pacing where I wasn’t bored watching it, even with its flaws. As I said before, if you love bloody action scenes, this is something you may want to watch!!!

(Sidenote: Dark Crimes- Jim Carrey in a dramatic role? What’s the worse it can happen? Honestly this may be the worst movie in his career with his weird European accent, and a film so dark it would make Zack Snider jealous. The story was way too confusing, and the execution just made it way too boring for a mystery thriller. It wasn’t thrilling at all. I hope Jim Carrey can do better. Please do better!!!
