A Star Is Born is an emotional love story with phenomenal acting, and great music!!!

Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-The acting is what is great to me, Bradley Cooper as Jackson Maine was awesome, it really wasn’t Cooper acting, it was someone else and his singing was surprisingly good, Lady Gaga was like a natural in her acting role and the chemistry between her and Cooper was very, very genuine, Sam Elliot was great, and even comedians playing dramatic roles in this film in Andrew Dice Clay and Dave Chappelle were really good in their roles
-Bradley Cooper also made his directorial debut, and not bad for a first time director, everything flowed well, and the close ups were powerful in getting the right facial expressions
-The music and soundtrack were pretty good, I’m not that into country rock, but there was also pop music for a change of scenery

The So So:

-The story is a good love story and a from nothing to something type of story, but as a love story, I felt it was really rushed which loses a bit of reality, I guess I wanted to see more chase in the beginning, but the story does flow well for a drama

What I Didn’t Like:

-Being nitpicky, I wanted to see more drama between Ally (Lady Gaga) and her father, Jackson and his brother, and more development on Dave Chappelle’s character as Noodles, other than that I can’t really hate on this film

Overall:

I really did enjoy this drama. Watch for just the acting alone and it is a great spectacle love story to see with good music. It is time to talk about Oscars, and I believe the bells will ring for this movie. The acting will get nominations and I won’t be surprised if this is Coopers year in getting an Oscar. I guess we’ll see!!!

(Sidenote: American Animals- This true story is not your typical heist film. It is definitely a story that is unique and very engaging. I really enjoyed how they mixed the movie with good acting with a documentary style with the real people mixed in together. It brings something that we have not seen before, and I appreciate that. It is a Diamond in the Rough type of film and I strongly suggest to check it out!!!
