First Man has many thrilling scenes with some of the best sound work I have heard yet which makes up for the technical dialogue!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

What I Like:

-Damien Chazelle direction is something very unique, every rocket mission has that claustrophobic feeling which gives you a unique thrill each time, and the way they blend it to give it that old school feel was a nice touch
-Part of the reason why the thrills are unique is because I thought the sound editing was on point, it is like you’re part of the crew hearing every detail that deals with the mission, especially the part when they land on the moon and step out, the sounds really makes it a great spectacle to watch

The So So:

-The acting was fine, but the main character of Neil Armstrong, played by Ryan Gosling, was a little awkward to me because it seems all he does is just stare at everything, they ask him a question and he just stares before he gives an answer, it just to funny and weird at the same time, with that said, even though his parts were minimal I enjoyed the acting of Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, his brutally honest attitude gives it comic relief which I enjoyed

What I Didn’t Like:

-There were times that scenes dragged mainly because of all that space talk jargon which can confuse and/or bore some people, yes it has its purposes and shows authenticity, but it may be a little much for the common people

Overall:

I really did enjoy it. Especially for people in my generation who weren’t around when this historical moment happened. I saw it in IMAX which I highly recommend to watch it in for the great sound editing where it makes you feel like you’re really there. Every scene is thrilling even though you know what the outcome is going to be, and that is what makes this movie great. Damien Chazelle has done it again in creating something amazing for all of us to enjoy!!!
