Green Book is a very funny and thought provoking story with tremendous acting chemistry from Mortensen and Ali!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

What I Like:

-What really made this film fun to watch is watching the chemistry between Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, I enjoyed seeing Mortensen as an Italian-American New Yorker, And Ali is a sophisticated black pianist musician, and I enjoyed how each other are witty in their own ways and how not only they learn about one another through their journey, but about themselves as well, it was a treat to watch
-The story, which is a true story, has many powerful moments dealing with racism in the Deep South during the 60’s, it is still astonishing what black people have to go through during that time, and the different realities of how we should handle things during a trying time, it is very thought provoking and teaches a lesson about tolerance and understanding with a very good pace that wasn’t boring at all
-Have to add comedian Sebastian Maniscalco was hilarious in his role as well

The So So:

-One of my main worries before watching this movie was that by the trailers it reminded of a past classic movie Driving Miss Daisy, while watching it, it does have some similar themes about racism and understanding, however, the difference really is the circumstances and the different types of characters, the development is not being your own stereotype, but not losing your culture as well

What I Didn’t Like:

-Being nitpicky here, but I wish they showed more of the race issues with more depth instead of it just happening, heck, they even had a small itsy part about sexuality but never really expounded on it, just wanted to see more of it

Overall:

I really enjoyed the funny banter between Mortensen and Ali as they learn more of understanding each other and seeing for who they really are. The pacing and scenes about racial discrimination really brings out a thought provoking understanding of how bad things got during that time no matter who you are. This movie may get some Oscar nods mainly for the acting, but in a time where racial tensions are high, this is a film we all need to watch and hopefully inspire us to understand different people and learn to respect one another and treat them right!!!

(Sidenote: Unfriended: Dark Web- I thought the first movie was decent with some creepy horror involving the dangers if the internet. For this film, it is more of the same gimmick. This time, instead of the supernatural, it is more of an occultish group or what not. Anyways, at the beginning, it kept my attention, but once it hit the climax, it all fell off from there. The ending didn’t make any sense whatsoever, and that’s why it is ok at best!!!
