Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a fun ride with good story telling, and a comic book feel that will have fans of Spider-Man very fulfilled!!!
Rating: 4.5 Stars
What I Like:
-I am a fan of the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man and this movie really hits it all on what we really like about him in the comics, the character development and the story really made this a great and unique origin story
-The voice casting was amazing, Liev Schreiber as Kingpin is one of my favorites, his voice gives it a lot of authority and intensity that was perfect for the character
-I like how the animation had a comic book feel to it which really was a breathe of fresh air, made it authentic and fun to follow
-The comedy was hilarious as well, and you do have to be a true Spider-Man fan to get everything, but that is what makes it awesome
The So So:
-While watching the trailers, I really didn’t like the voice of Jake Johnson as Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man, thought his voice made him sound like a loser of some sorts, but as you see the film being executed, it all made sense in why Spider-Man sounded that way, the chemistry between him and Miles Morales had some funny dialogue
What I Didn’t Like:
-Being nitpicky, but when it comes to the unique animation, one thing that bothered me was you see a lot scenes fading a lot which was distracting, maybe it is the 3D which I watched it in, but I didn’t like it
Overall:
This is a great Spider-Man origin story. What I didn’t say is that I appreciated how diverse not only with Miles Morales, but with the rest of the Spider-Verse characters. It makes the character a lot more relatable, and I appreciated that. It is fun, hilarious, and awesome to watch with all the character and villains that will tickle the nerd’s Spidey-Sense. Kids will love it, cuz it will give another cultured hero for them to look up to. I’m looking forward to more animated movies, at least Sony has that going for them!!!
