Detective Pikachu will be good and fun for Pokemon fans, even though the story was a little uneven and predictable!!!

Real Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-If you are a Pokemon fan like me, you will love it and have fun watching this movie, do yourself a favor if you watch it or watch it again, look at the background and you will find plenty of Pokemon walking or poking around, it is awesome
-Not only that, the detail and animation on these Pokemon are great, the way the fur moves the right way way when they move, the fact that they actually get dirty and rattled, all these different details makes the most fair weathered Pokemon fan be in awe of the detail it brings
-The other great thing about this movie was the voice casting of Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu was great, I was skeptical at first because he sounds a lot like Deadpool to me which I find it weird for a kid’s movie, however, that voice works, just think of a PG Deadpool in a form of a Pokemon, the chemistry with Justice Smith works very well, with some great character development

The So So:

-The story is pretty predictable, without saying too much, I kind of predicted what will happen mainly because it does follow a certain kids movie tropes, but the execution of everything was almost flawless which I forgive them for, it was all entertaining

What I Didn’t Like:

-Not only was it predictable, but I felt the story was uneven with their subplots, like some of it was really rushed, and some don’t really have a solid conclusion, at least their main focal point was gratifying

Overall:

As I said before, if you’re a fan of Pokemon, you will find this movie fun and entertaining. You can forgive its uneven and predictable story, because the execution and the little emotion it brings really makes it worthwhile. Bring the kids, especially if they love Pokemon, and I hope as a family you all can go play Pokemon Go after. It is those moments where it makes Pokemon special for adults and kids alike!!!
