Hobbs and Shaw

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw - theatrical poster.jpg

Hobbs and Shaw is what you expect in a Fast and Furious movie, for better or worse, but the chemistry between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham is what keeps this film rolling!!!

Real Rating: 3.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The biggest part that I like in this film is the comedic chemistry between Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and Jason Statham, their banter is funny and it was those moments that kept my interest while watching
-Seeing The Rock rekindle his culture as a Samoan is great to see
-I loved the cameos it had, I won’t say anything, but it will delight you

The So So:

-Idris Elba as the villain, Brixton Lore, is a cool villain of a person with biological mechanical upgrades, and I loved the scenes with him on that motorcycle, with all that said, the motives of him and the company he works for, Eteon, are starting to become the kill all to make the world a better place cliche
-The action is what you expect to in a Fast and Furious movie a lot of over the top action involving cars, motorcycles, and helicopters, it may get old, but yet you can’t help yourself but be in awe of how the action scenes go down

What I Didn’t Like:

-For a Fast and Furious movie this is one where the story was just subpar even for their standards, the reasons for them to take a mission and the way it unfurls is something we have seen before, the action is not enough with a lack a depth in the story
-The character development seems rushed as well

Overall:

Fast and Furious fans won’t be disappointed, that is a fact. As I said, the chemistry and banter between Hobbs and Shaw is what kept my interests in tack. Yes the action can be eye candy, but the story was more bitter than cacao straight from the plant. Put it together, you get an ok to decent movie at best. Now on to the next one which is the ninth film, wow (sarcasm)!!!
