Overcomer (Sidenote: Unplanned)

Overcome may have their cringy moments, but the message of forgiveness and inspiration can be genuinely inspiring for all of us!!!

Real Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-The message here is loud and clear, a message of forgiveness, and overcoming yourself to be inspired to be the best that God allows you to be, pretty good message if you ask me
-The moments between Hannah and her father, greatly acted by Cameron Arnett were very special moments that I enjoyed

The So So:

-Yes it is predictable for both a Christian and a sports movie, but I appreciated the execution, I am a sap for those inspirational sports movies

What I Didn’t Like:

-There were some cringy moments where the acting may be a bit much, I guess with any Kendrick Brothers produced Christian movies, you will get that and either laugh at it, or just straight up hate it
-As usual, the life changing moment seemed to be rushed which does affect the effectiveness it needs to bring

Overall:

I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. Yes it does have those cringy moments which most people will remember. However, if you look pass that and really see what this movie is trying to tell you, you can be inspired and try to incorporate that into your life. It can be worthwhile if you do. It is a pretty decent sports story as well, which some can appreciate. Message is strong, and for me that is half the battle for me to enjoy it at the very least!!!

Unplanned promotional poster

(Sidenote: Unplanned- I have for the most part defended the Pure Flix franchise, mainly the God’s Not Dead films. However for this one, I cannot get behind. For a person who is middle ground on the issue it brings, this film doesn’t help for either side of the argument. In fact, all it does is make it worse than it already is. With all the controversy it brought before it premiered. I really think this film really lost its true focus, and that is a big shame!!!
