The Goldfinch (Sidenote: A Dog’s Journey)

The Goldfinch (2019 film poster).png

The Goldfinch has its moments, but if they made more concise it would be a lot more effective than a lagging slog!!!

Real Rating: 2.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The film has some special and intense moments throughout, seeing this kid, Theo, grow up after experiencing some traumatizing events can be something worth watching
-The acting was pretty good

The So So:

-There were either good moments, or not so good moments, pretty much the feel of this film

What I Didn’t Like:

-This movie was long, and because of that things seem lagging or boring, a lot of unnecessary conversations that in the end had me asking to end this already
-There are some plot holes that were left wide open with no closure in sight, and that is annoying

Overall:

This movie could be a very good movie. If they made it shorter and more concise, it would have been a lot more effective movie for us to watch. Director, John Crowley, does not have a good track record with me in his films. To me, his films are boring, and this is a prime example. It is a waste of good acting unfortunately, and one that will be known as wasted talent!!!

(Sidenote: A Dog’s Journey- This sequel is more of the same like the first film, about a dog’s spirit going through reincarnation. The story is a bit bland and cliched with stereotypical characters. With all that said, it does bring heart warming moments that dog lovers will always cherish!!!
