Ad Astra

Ad Astra - film poster.jpg

Ad Astra may have some slow moments, but the good moments are gold with the themes it brings!!!

Real Rating: 3.5 Stars

What I Like:

-The film does bring different themes of your own mental wellness, themes of depression, anxiety, closure, and motivation, these themes brings great character development to Brad Pitt’s character as Major Roy McBride
-Brad Pitt acted very well, especially the scenes by himself
-The film may not get Oscar praise for the big awards, but I do believe it will get praise for Best Sound Editing and Mixing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Cinematography
-I love the theories of the future it brings, very interesting
-The scenes with Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones was great

The So So:

-I expected more action, but with the few action moments it has it was awesome especially the chase scene on the moon

What I Didn’t Like:

-I did expect dramatics, and it did had some good dramatics, however, some scenes were slower than my grandmother and she’s dead, if I watched this tired, I would’ve fallen asleep
-As I said before I expected more action, and I also expected something maybe unexpected, in other words, once the story develops, expect the expected

Overall:

It’s a decent space sci-fi story that makes a lot of sense, and you don’t get too bored with the scientific details. The dramatics for this film can be very slow for my liking, but the moments it does bring is cinematic gold with a great performance by Brad Pitt. I wouldn’t put it up there with Gravity, The Martian or even Interstellar, but it is enjoyable watch when you’re in the mood for a psychological sci fi film!!!
