Joker is a slow burn, but once it starts unraveling, it is a dark show worth watching!!!
Real Rating: 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
-Joaquin Phoenix playing the titular character of the Joker was awesome to see, I thought Phoenix captures the role and character very well, and did it his own way, though not my favorite Joker (Heath Ledger still has my vote), it is up there in the pantheon of great Jokers
-There were some intense scenes, most notably, the final scene which I won’t spoil, but it is so tense and great, worth the build up to see that scene
The So So:
-The movie is dark, and deals with mental illness and what not, in that regard it made it interesting, however, I kind of wished they dive more into how to help mental illness instead of glorifying the dark ways it can bring, then again, we wouldn’t have a Joker movie if it did
What I Didn’t Like:
-It is a slow burn with a lot of development at the beginning, and because of that, it made me lose focus a little bit, other than that, it made itself from decent to good
Overall:
If you’re expecting a Marvel movie or even a Justice League movie, you will be greatly disappointed. However, if you open your mind and really see how bad society can make a person crazy, this is one you should not miss. Especially involving an iconic villain. As I said before, it is a slow burn. Once the darkness starts peeling off, it is one dark and crazy film that can mess with your mind. Whether in a good way or a bad way, it is up to you!!!
