A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood does capture some great charm and emotion with an iconic person, but what is really enjoyable is the story of Tom Junod!!!
Real Rating 3.5 Stars
What I Like:
-The true story of journalist Tom Junod, played by Matthew Rhys, was very interesting of how Mr. Rogers can not only be impactful to children, but to adults as well, and how he changed his life, the acting of Rhys was spectacular and very believable
-The transitions of making the cities into toy models was a nice and classy touch for a film like this
The So So:
-Tome Hanks playing the iconic Fred Rogers was really good, there were times where I see Mr. Rogers, and there were times I see Tom Hanks, but Hanks made the best he can to really capture his essence and show why he really is a genuinely good man, I enjoyed seeing this person come to life again
What I Didn’t Like:
-It is a drama that can hit lulls sometimes. In this film it was more about Junod, than Mr. Rogers. Though I enjoyed the story of his life, I was kind of getting bored with the drama he deals with. It needed more umph sometimes
Overall:
People will rekindle their childhood seeing Tom Hanks portraying the late and great Mr. Fred Rogers. He really is a great man. The main story of Tom Junod really showed how impactful Mr. Rogers really is. It is a genuine and feel good movie. Yes, the drama can be a little dull, but in the end, the payoff was just great and happy emotion all around!!!
