The Irishman (Sidenote: The Peanut Butter Falcon)

The Irishman can be a long and slow burn, but the story of the rise and fall of a faithful mobster with Scorsese’s touch did not disappoint!!!

Real Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-You get all the heavy hitters with this film grouped up, and probably for the last time, for this mob film, you have the great acting we all come to love with Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and that’s just to name a few
-Director Martin Scorsese does what he does best with mob movies, tell a great story, add some really intense scenes, and unique ways of filming, it was great

The So So:

-It is a slow burn, but the main reason for that is to give great character development to these main characters, then once the story gets going, you are good to go

What I Didn’t Like:

-You may have to endure a lot of slow moments for conversations, and yes, you do feel the three and a half hours in this
-They really tried to make these old classic actors younger, but honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference, and seeing DeNiro beat up somebody was not effective, just sad

Overall:

It is a slow burn for a three and a half hour movie. With all that said, we need to appreciate a movie where we will see Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Martin Scorsese at the helm. This may be the last time we will see all these guys together making a mob film that is interesting, thrilling, and good. Not only did I watch it for entertainment, but I watched out of respect that these great actors are doing it for one last time. I know that is something I can’t take for granted. Hats off to them for making that happen!!!

Three people on a raft

(Sidenote: The Peanut Butter Falcon- I have to say, I enjoyed the first two thirds of this film. I enjoyed seeing the tremendous acting by Shia Lebeouf befriending a person with Down’s Syndrome and helping him achieve his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. The last third of the movie I didn’t like. It was way over the top, and with an ending that was very unsatisfying which is very unfortunate!!!
