Honey Boy (Sidenote: The Farewell)

Honey Boy may be sad and gut wrenching, but it is interesting to watch!!!

What I Like:

-The acting was spot on, most notably Shia LeBeouf playing pretty much his own father, seeing this character really shows the children’s take on how their parents treat them, and in this case, a budding child actor, Lucas Hedges playing an adult Shia LeBeouf was pretty fun to watch as well

The So So:

-This story is interesting to see, the fact that this is written by LeBeouf while he was in rehab really shows why he acted the way he did, it is like seeing his life story of a rough childhood, and how it lead to his stints in rehab, this may be something for LeBeouf to reflect and learn, but did it all have to be so sad, gut wrenching, and horrible the whole time

What I Didn’t Like:

-There were some moments for that was way to weird and awkward for my liking, it may have a point, but when it deals with children, it does cross a thin line of right and wrong for me

Overall:

It is an interesting take to really try to understand why Shia LeBeouf is who he is today. To me it is sad and horrible what he had to go through, and seeing how harsh his dad could be really can take a toll on your emotions. I’m glad Lebeouf did this for mainly to help himself, and for us to see. I just wish it didn’t end with my feelings being so negative!!!

The Farewell poster.jpg

(Sidenote: The Farewell- This film starring Awkafina dealing with a family issue of her grandmother dying, but nobody in her family is allowed to tell her that. I enjoyed seeing the culture of a family living in China today. The acting seemed genuine, and the whole dilemma was interesting to watch unfold. Even though I lost focus in the end, I do believe it does give justice in how a Chinese family works and deals with a big matter!!!
