The Rhythm Section (Sidenote: The Lighthouse, Parasite, and Pain and Glory)

The Rhythm Section was a thriller, only without the thrills!!!

Real Rating: 2.5 Explosions

What I Like:

-This film had some cool action moments, especially that car chase, which sort of peaked my interest

The So So:

-I thought Blake Lively did a fine job, but I wouldn’t consider her an action star, at least not yet

What I Didn’t Like:

-This film is suppose to be a thriller, but I wasn’t thrilled at all, the execution was subpar, and with a cliched storyline, I pretty much knew how this film goes down, despite the “twist” in the end

Overall:

I didn’t expect much before I watched this film, but I expected to be somewhat thrilled. I didn’t get to the edge of my seat, I barely was in the middle of it. The execution for the most part was subpar, with a cliched storyline, and it was predictable. With a lot of good actors, I honestly expected better. I shouldn’t be surprised, but I can say, I am just a little bit with how deadpan this film is!!!

Real Rating: 2.5 Explosions

The Lighthouse.jpeg

(Sidenote: The Lighthouse- Add this film to one of the weirdest movie I have ever seen. I give credit to the creepiness of Willem Dafoe, and director Robert Eggers for making a black and white film creepy as well. With all that said, it was too weird for my liking. It was hard for me to keep my interest until that crazy ending. I felt the tone was all over the place as well. I could see why these actors gone mad in the end!!!

Parasite (2019 film).png

(Sidenote: Parasite- For a foreign film, this had some great story telling. I liked the theme of a poor family trying to leach off a rich family. That part was pure genius. With that said, the way the whole movie went down was crazy to say the least. The themes just changed so quick and messes with your mind, that I don’t know how good this film got. It is interesting to say the least, and I recommend it even if it is a foreign film!!!

(Sidenote: Pain and Glory- This foreign film you see a side of Antonio Banderas that you never seen before playing a washed away filmmaker dealing with pain and depression. It is an interesting take seeing how his life unwinded from childhood until now in many different takes in the past and present. Very well thought out story at the very least!!!
