We Can Be Heroes is an upgrade from its predecessor, but it really is a film just meant for kids!!!
Real Rating: 3 Slow-Mos
What I Like:
-It is a cute story of little kids with powers teaming up to save their superhero parents from aliens, the way they try to work together, and fight was not boring at the very least
-I enjoyed the character Slow-Mo, every part he is in is hilarious to me, and Guppy was so cute seeing her being a hero as well
-I also enjoyed the theme of teamwork which is perfect for a movie really made for kids
The So So:
-Is it campy, yes it was, but it does set that tone very early on so you know what to expect, at least the cgi was a lot better in this film, with all that said, there are some scenes where the campiness does make your eyes roll
What I Didn’t Like:
-The twists were kind of predictable, and knew where the film was headed towards as a whole, it didn’t really brought anything new to the table
-You also get your best with child acting which is not much
Overall:
Bottomline, it is a film made for kids, and not really for adults. Although I like it a lot better than The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, it still has a lot of flaws. The story and campiness does hinder it for what it is, but the themes and characters really can be something special for kids to learn and be entertained. It does have some good moments, and for that, you can put it on for the kids while you all continue to do adult things. Or maybe not!!!
