Chaos Walking (Sidenote: Monster Hunter)

Chaos Walking does bring a unique premise, but in the end, it was just an awkward predictable story!!!

Real Rating: 3 I Am Todd Hewitts

What I Like:

-The premise of this story is intriguing, the fact of a place where men live and their thoughts are played out in the open in some sort of purple smoke called noise, and then a woman who doesn’t have noise comes along and all craziness breaks loose, it was interesting to see the setting up of this sci-fi story, and the world it builds

The So So:

-The paring of Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley does seem very awkward, especially seeing the noise into action, I mean can you imagine a woman always seeing your inner thoughts, even though I believe for the story it is supposed to be that way, I didn’t really feel any genuine chemistry between, it just felt strange and awkward, even at the end, maybe it is more realistic that way, but it just didn’t work for me

What I Didn’t Like:

-Once the story starts to unravel, I knew where it was going, it just became a very predictable type of story we all seen before with the twist that I have seen from 100 miles away
-There was some plot holes as well, but I guess they were banking on making this story a trilogy which may have been putting all their eggs in one basket sort of ordeal

Overall:

As I said before, the story is intriguing that keeps you in for the most part of the film. With that said, once it all unravels, it all goes down to a predictable trope. Let alone the awkward acting between the two leads doesn’t make it something we should really care about. With this film, they wanted to make it a trilogy which explains some of the loose ends, but in the end, it just led me with more questions instead of building a new world we all should care about!!!

Monster Hunter Film Poster.jpg

(Sidenote: Monster Hunter – Apparently this film is based on a video game which I have no idea about. Regardless, all it has is some mind blowing action involving beasts featuring Milla Jovovich. The story is very thin, and really can be a bore at times when the stakes are not something you really care about. At least you have monster action which is about the only thing the movie guarantees!!!
