The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run may feel lesser than the previous movies, but fans will still love the zaninest it brings with all the characters we love!!!

Real Rating: 3.5 Tumbleweeds with Keanu Reeves Head

What I Like:

-You have to be a fan of Spongebob to enjoy this film, in its heart it still has the Spongebob charm, and the zany comedy it always deliver, the character we all grew to love is still there, and for me, as long as you have Patrick being the dumb character we all love, you will have a good time
-They have introduced some characters and cameos, without spoiling it too much, my personal favorite is seeing Keanu Reeves as a tumbleweed named Sage as a spiritual guide for Spongebob and Patrick, the funniest part for me is seeing Keanu Reeves or Sage, get frustrated with them which adds some hilarity
-I also enjoyed the 3D CGI animation, it gave a nice new touch and brought more life to the scenes
-The soundtrack is a lot of fun as well

The So So:

-For a show that has gone for almost 22 years, they definitely took a Simpsons approach with their continuity of their characters, I’m not going to spoil it, but die hard fans may not like some of the changes they made, for me, it did seem minor, but that’s just me

What I Didn’t Like:

-I’m almost certain the cartoon already did some sort of story of Spongebob losing his pet snail Gary, it may have been a long time ago, but it is still a derivative plot point, I feel the other movies had a better storyline than this film

Overall:

Out of the three movies which are all different in their own way, storywise, this one was the weakest out of the three. With all that said, I still had fun watching and laughing at all the zany things that go on with the characters we all love. The new animation still makes it look awesome, and it still brings a lot of heart into it which is really what Spongebob is all about. This is another fun one for the family to come together and laugh, and have a good time!!!
