Black Widow is everything you need it to be with a Marvel movie, and a well overdue backstory for the character, but it didn’t blow me away!!!

Real Rating: 4 Bad Russian Accents

What I Like:

-It has everything you expect in a Marvel movie, the fight scenes were very Jason Bourne-ish, and the overall action was great, plus all the minimal Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) tie ins, makes this an enjoyable experience
-The story was a good spy story, something we didn’t have in the MCU since Captain America: The WInter Soldier, the villains are a force to be reckoned with

The So So:

-It finally gave some backstory for the character of Black Widow, and gives you an even more of an understanding of where she comes from, which was great, but way overdue, I just don’t understand why this films starts out phase four of the MCU, with the setting of this film, it should’ve came out in phase three after Captain America: Civil War and before Avengers: Infinity War, the timing of this was off
-The acting was good, especially dealing with the family, Florence Pugh does bring a lot of emotion to the table, David Harbour brings the comic relief, and Rachel Weisz brings the mother figure emotional support, but you have to get used to the bad Russian accents
-The villain Taskmaster wasn’t there for much of the film, but when you do see the villain, they were fun scenes

What I Didn’t Like:

-It is one of those Marvel films that didn’t blew me away, it reveal some minor secrets, but it was whatever for me, it is not in the rankings of the top MCU films that’s for sure

Overall:

As a standalone film, it is a good spy film. Almost James Bond-ish type of film. Everything is good, and what you expected to happen with the action, story, and acting for the most part. When you put it into par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is good, but it didn’t blow me away as it should. Maybe the timing of everything with its setting and what not wasn’t the right decision, but I still needed something more to really love it. In the end, it will be one of those good MCU films that maybe may not be memorable!!!
