Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a fun and unique Marvel film even though it was a predictable in the end!!!

Real Rating: 4 Dragon Scales

What I Like:

-The biggest thing is the Asian representation, they finally have a Marvel movie with an Asian lead that was good and not stereotypical, it is the Asian’s version of Black Panther
-The action, especially in the beginning was a lot of fun, you have some good hand to hand combat with great choreography, and with some great cinematography in the background
-The acting was great for the most part, Simu Liu had what it takes to be in a Marvel film, and what they did with the Mandarin just made a lot of sense for villain purposes, everybody in the main cast really had a purpose which they executed well

The So So:

-I liked the story two thirds of the way, they started off with a bang with the action and the character development was unraveled in the middle for a good story on family and purpose, with that said, the third act, though it was fun, it was very predictable on how things went down which was very obvious

What I Didn’t Like:

-Some scenes were way too dark for me to enjoy, CGI and smog really didn’t mix in the end
-Without spoiling it, it does continue the Marvel narrative, but left me with unanswered questions which I am forced to wait on
-Awkwafina’s voice, but not for the reasons from woke Twitter

Overall:

I do believe the Asian community will be proud of it, and have a person to call their Marvel hero. It was definitely needed. It is a lot of fun with the action, choreography, and cinematography that is eye candy for everyone. The acting was great, and the surprises will be enjoyed. The story was good enough despite the predictability in the end. Regardless, this hero will be important in the future of the MCU, and I’m here for that!!!

Real Rating:

4 Dragon Scales
