Eternals

Eternals (film) poster.jpeg

Eternals is not the greatest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, but the world building and diversity in the cast makes it a critical point for its next phase!!!

What I Like:

-The cast is good, not only do you have top notch actors, but you have some great diversity in it as well, not only you have different races involved, you also have a real person that is deaf as a hero, and some LGTBQ+ representation, in this regard, you it is ground breaking for sure
-I did enjoy some characters, I enjoyed Don Lee as Gilgamesh, I loved his brute power, but also showing that he has a great heart as well, and I also enjoyed Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo bringing in the comedy relief
-The mid and end credits scene does make you excited to see what is next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

The So So:

-With Chloe Zhao as director, you know you are going to get great cinematography, those scenes at the beach was awesome, and the CGI backgrounds were awesome, the world building is pretty good, but my complaint with Chloe Zhao has always been the way she tells her story can lean to the boring side, there was a lot of slow and lagging moments that can make a two and a half movie
-The character development was good enough, but some people did get the short end of the stick or was rushed in general

What I Didn’t Like:

-Just like my complaints with Dune about all the exposition that does seem long and boring, only this type of exposition was slow and confusing at times, I believe it could’ve been done better, but they unfortunately have to build that part of the MCU as quick as possible for the real treat of the future, sort of like Thor with Asgard

Overall:

This film does have a lot of good moments with a stellar cast, decent action, and great cinematography. I give Chloe Zhao a lot of credit for that, but the long and boring exposition really is a thorn for this world building for the Eternals. It was a little slow, and it did lag at times. Once it got going, it can be entertaining to watch once you get through it. Regardless, this is a world building film that will enhance the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to bigger scales for sure. With all that said, and I hope I am wrong, I believe through the big picture of it all, it will be one of those MCU films which are crucial for story building, but forgettable in the end!!!
