Clifford the Big Red Dog (Sidenote: Joe Bell)

Clifford the Big Red Dog may have a few special moments, but bottomline, it is made for kids, and not much else!!!

Real Rating:

2.5 Condensed Milk

What I Like:

-Clifford is so cute, and the CGI on himself is great, and showed the dog’s true emotion
-Jack Whitehall was pretty funny in his role as Uncle Casey, John Cleese was great as well in his purposes

The So So:

-It does have some special and emotional moments, but it does get overshadowed by the kids movie goofiness it mostly brings
-Tony Hale playing the villain was good, but the intentions of the villains are so cliched

What I Didn’t Like:

-In the end, it is a kids movie, and it will be something kids will enjoy and laugh, but adults will endure on the juvenile humor

I like the thought they put in on this classic children’s story. I remember reading these books as a kid. With that said, sometimes keeping it in books are just better than putting it on the big screen. It does have moments, but the childish goofiness and lower tier comedy was just something for kids to laugh and enjoy, but adults will want something extra in their diet cokes. The acting does show passion, but everything was overshadowed by kids movies tropes. I rather remember the books than this film!!!

Real Rating:

2.5 Condensed Milk

A man wearing camping gear and his son walk on an empty road.

(Sidenote: Joe Bell – This film is about about a dad, played by Mark Wahlberg, feeling guilty about the suicidal death of his son who was bullied for being gay. So he embarks on a cross country walk to raise awareness in bullying. During this ordeal he deals with his past demons of how he could’ve been a better father. The film is interesting, but I didn’t think it is effective enough to hit the main themes of what it is trying to show. It could’ve been a lot better, but we just got an average movie!!!
Real Rating: 3 Hikes)
