The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent may be a Nic Cage love fest, but I thought the writing was clever and funny enough to enjoy it for what it is!!!

Real Rating:

4 Nic Cages

What I Like:

-You would think a film about Nicolas Cage as himself will be a love fest about Nic Cage, and seeing him at his pinnacle of eccentric acting would not sound good, but I tell you it is good, and that is because of the writing, it has some good layers and themes dealing with the things Nic Cage actually goes through, and of course dealing with superfans and how they can help you in the long run, the twists and turns can be fun and funny as the movie progresses
-The chemistry between Nic Cage as himself, and Pedro Pascal as Javi, a wealthy Nic Cage superfan, is so great and unique that it can give you some freshness in a buddy movie

The So So:

-This film only works if you are either a fan of Nic Cage, or at the very least, respect his methods of acting or the movies that he’s in, if not, you will not like, let alone understand, what this film is really all about

What I Didn’t Like:

-It can be too over the top with the action and acting
-The ending really makes me bring up a question in the end (if you all watch it, feel free to comment below about it)

Overall:

You have to love, like, and/or respect the actor Nic Cage to really get a kick out of this film. When you do, you can appreciate the film, and realize the writing is very clever and witty. It is a film you can’t take it seriously, and it knows that. You just have to sit back and relax, and let Nic Cage overtake you for 2 hours. It may not sound right or fun, but that is how this film plays out!!!

Real Rating:
