Father of the Bride is good remake culturally-wise, but everything else just made it seem like a tenderhearted soap opera!!!

What I Like:

-The culture this film remake brings, that Miami Latin culture makes it fun and vibrant with the music, Spanish language, and the touch of family from both the Cuban and Mexican culture
-It is a family movie that does have a good hearted touch

The So So:

-The acting was good, but the one that stood out that didn’t so it for me was Gloria Estefan, I didn’t believe in what she is trying to say, it’s not like she was terrible, but I felt it wasn’t authentic enough

What I Didn’t Like:

-All the problems and issues just felt like a family soap opera which I personally just don’t like, it was cringy for me

Overall:

The Steve Martin version (there is an older version of this film that I haven’t seen) was nice, but it over relied on Steve Martin’s antics. This one, I can appreciate the culture which I can relate to. I’m sure every Latin wedding goes through these types of dramas. In the end, it just seemed like one big family soap opera with cringy drama that just didn’t do it for me. At least I can appreciate the Latin music which is always a joy for me!!!
