Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a fun romp, where fans of the game or not will enjoy the adventure journey!!!

Real Rating:

4 Dungeons and Dragons

What I Like:

-What really makes it enjoyable for me was the comedy, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and the somewhat campy approach really worked well, it stuck with this tone from beginning to end, and with Chris Pine really knowing his role for it really excels in it
-The action was fun as well, Michelle Rodriguez really excels in her fight scenes as a barbarian, and some of these one take actions scenes really brings out an awesome fun to it which I enjoyed thoroughly
-The fact that you don’t have to play Dungeons and Dragons to enjoy this film is perfect, anybody can watch and enjoy without any previous knowledge of it

The So So:

-One thing that is unfortunate for this film, a lot of the comedy or action were already shown in its trailers, I wish that didn’t happen because some of the scenes were gold, but already spoiled for me, like the raising of the dead scene was extremely spoiled, regardless, it still gets a laugh out of me

What I Didn’t Like:

-Does it remind of a sillier Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings type, yes it does, which may repulse some people who are fans of this genre
-Also, the story is very predictable, and the trailer giving out some hints didn’t help either

Overall:

I had some doubts about this film based on one of the most famous nerdy games around. Once I started watching it, and seeing the tone it sets from the beginning, I could sit down, relax, and enjoy it for what it is. I enjoyed the comedy, and the fun action scenes. As a person who dabbles with the game, I believe it does give it justice, but not too heavy handed about it for the non fans of the game. It is about fun, and it does have plenty of that!!!
