The Burial (Sidenote: The Machine)

The Burial may follow all the legal drama tropes, but it is still a fine film to watch at the relaxation of your own home!!!

Real Rating:

4 Funeral Homes

What I Like:

-What really made this film is the acting, most notably Jaime Foxx as lawyer Willie E. Gary, Foxx did a tremendous job playing a lawyer and really did seem like he was actually a lawyer before, Tommy Lee Jones and Jurnee Smollett were great as well

The So So:

-It is a legal drama based on a true story, but it does follow all the legal drama tropes that make it very predictable, however, I thought the pacing made it engaging for me to follow easily without the excessive legal jargon and what not, and made it to a compelling story

What I Didn’t Like:

-It was a little heavy handed on the themes of race and capitalist issues since it was set in the deep south

Overall:

I really enjoyed this film. Unlike most legal dramas, it wasn’t heavy on the lawyer talk which can get boring. It actually flowed very well, and made it easy for me to follow the main storyline. Yes, it does follow a lot of the legal drama tropes that makes it predictable, but it wasn’t boring or slow whatsoever. The acting made it even more entertaining, especially Jaime Foxx whose charisma never made it boring. It may be heavy handed on their political themes, but it is a perfect movie to watch at home!!!

(Sidenote: The Machine – This film is just Bert Kreischer being his comedic self. To me, the comedy wasn’t funny enough. The story didn’t make sense, and I can only take so much of seeing Bert Kreischer being shirtless. My only question is, how the heck they got Mark Hamill to do this film?!?!?!
Real Rating: 2.5 Russian Mobs)
