The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes started off very intriguing until that third act where it felt nothing was merited!!!

What I Like:

-I enjoyed seeing the story of the beginning of the Hunger Games and the issues they had to endure to “keep the peace,” it was a good premise
-The start of the Hunger Games for this film was a lot of fun to watch with the one shot that added a lot of intensity and fun action
-The acting was pretty good especially Rachel Zegler and that singing voice, and Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus Snow was interesting to see as a good person even though we know how that will end up, add to the fact that Viola Davis and Peter Dinklage was in this as intense villains was just icing on the cake

The So So:

-The first two thirds of this films was great with compelling storytelling, and great character development, for a prequel it really developed everything well to keep the aesthetic of the original movies but make it their own way, however, the last third of the film is where everything went down

What I Didn’t Like:

-The last third of the film is where I felt it fell of a cliff, they needed to develop Snow to the man he was in the original films, but their approach to it felt very rushed, and his supposed evilness felt unmerited, I just didn’t feel any emotion to his character becoming evil, I felt the Star Wars prequels to Anakin Skywalker was better, and that is saying something

Overall:

I really thought this film was going to be one of the good ones in this franchise the way it started with everything. Then the third act came, and everything felt it was crumbling down. I felt that this could’ve been split into two films, because the way they handled Snow in the third act just didn’t felt right. I wasn’t feeling any emotion whatsoever for the turn of this character, and really affected my viewing pleasure. It is a shame really, but just add this film to the franchise trying to make more money without a really compelling film!!!
