The Emoji Movie really tries hard to make a good story, but in the end, it was one big pile of rushed cliched mess!!!

What I Like:
-I thought the voice acting was great, TJ Miller as Gene was better than what I expected, also hearing Steven Wright as the meh emoji was great, and how did they get Patrick Stewart as the poop emoji is beyond me
The So So:
-The writers really tried hard to make this a good story, right from announcement they had their backs against the walls, but I give them credit for trying in making this unique, however, it reminded me too much of Inside Out (a movie I love) only with a subpar story
What I Didn’t Like:
-The story was a huge cliche for a film for kids, the one where the main character doesn’t want to be the norm, and wants to become different even though society says no, but they go on a adventure to change the society and realize their true potential, that’s practically almost every kid’s movie
-The ending did seem rushed and disjointed
-The poop jokes were just awful (really, how did they get Patrick Stewart to do this)
Overall:
I give credit for trying to make a good story to make this work, and I went in with some potential. However, my doubts became true in their kid’s movie cliches, and rushing the conclusion to keep it under 90 minutes. I guess this film was doomed to begin with especially when they were clearly product placing for apps in a phone!!!

(Sidenote: A Cure for Wellness- I didn’t know what to expect watching this film. The story is definitely one of the weirdest and darkest films I’ve seen this year. I also mean that in a bad way, because for a sci-fi horror film, it was way to boring. For a film that is 2 and a half hours, it dragged way to long for their very weird finally. It is also hard for me to take Dane DeHaan’s acting seriously!!!
