Aladdin is good enough for my entertainment, it can be the same story we come to love, but the cast and the culture it brings is a lot fun for the family!!!

Real Rating: 4 Stars

What I Like:

-What really stands out for me was how great the musical numbers are for this remake, they are songs that we have always loved, but the blend of real life and CGI was really great to see, plus all the culture they added really made it that extra special
-I enjoyed the extra depth they added to the characters like Aladdin and Jafar, but most notably I enjoyed what they did to the character of Princess Jasmine, I liked that instead of a spoiled brat in the original, I liked the fact the she is determined to be a strong woman and speak out for what it right for her kingdom, that development is very special and especially the new song “Speechless” that she sings very well

The So So:

-I will start with this, Will Smith as the Genie did take some time to get use to, but once you did, he was great, his charisma and sense of realism with this genie really gave it a nice touch, I do question his singing voice, but the song “Friend Like Me” was awesome, it is not anything like Robin Williams, but it is Will Smith at his finest which I am a fan of

What I Didn’t Like:

-Same reason why Beauty and the Beast remake is good enough, you enjoy the live remakes cuz of the CGI and a sense of a refresher, but it is the same old story, not that it is a bad thing, but it does make a difference in making a film good to great
-The one thing I like better in the original movie is the character of Iago, don’t get me wrong Alan Tudyk did great with what he had, but Gilbert Gottfried’s Iago was a lot funnier, while Tudyk’s Iago was pretty much a parrot

Overall:

Fans of Aladdin will not be disappointed. Yes, the original is better in many ways, but this one is just as fun. Just look at it as a refresher of an old time tale. Instead of looking at it with negativity, just free your open mind and enjoy what this remake brings. The cast was great, the direction of Guy Ritchie is creative, and the emotion is still there. Take the family, and have your kids develop the magic with this one like it did to you as a kid with the original. That for sure you won’t be disappointed!!!
