Da 5 Bloods is a fascinating story with a good premise, and some great character development that really makes Spike Lee doing the right thing in film!!!

What I Like:

-The premise of the story is very interesting, and the execution of everything was practically excellent, there were great moments and even some thrilling scenes that left me breathing deeply
-The four actors were great, they have great chemistry with one another with some great character development for each of them, but most notably the character of Paul, played by Delroy Lindo, was a fascinating character, a veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other inner demons, and how he deals with everything whether it is good or bad, his story made it a fascinating tragedy
-Spike Lee really made this story with some great themes about war, living life as a black veteran in America, and about greed and values, and unlike most Spike Lee joints, this film did not feel too preachy, rather, it all felt genuine and entertaining, Spike Lee is on a roll right now with his films
-The soundtrack of old school soul and protest music, really sets a good vibe when watching

The So So:

-The structure of this whole film can be a little uneven and can throw you off, but it all ties in well in the end

What I Didn’t Like:

-One part that bothered me was a choice Spike Lee made when he created scenes during the Vietnam War, for the main characters they still played themselves back in the War, and there was no real attempt to make them look younger, not sure why they made that decision, but it did distract me a lot

Overall:

Spike Lee is on a roll not only in directing, but in writing as well. He is definitely doing the right thing (pun intended). An interesting premise that wasn’t boring. Instead, it was entertaining with some great thrilling moments and action. It also had some fascinating character development with some great actors who gave a great performance with some good chemistry with one another. It may be too early to speak now, but I can see some Oscar buzz already!!!
